Connie - This wonderful young woman has crossed the border from Illinois into Wisconsin when she married Ryan spring of 2011. Implementing events, nanny-ing, fashion illustrating, and working in a managerial position at a similar studio near Chicago are only a few of the talents and experiences Connie brings to glaze. She literally slipped right into place having started with an extensive background and familiarity of our industry. Connie is a go-to girl for custom work as she has been painting pottery for years. Connie has been gifted with many musical talents as well... maybe one of these nights in the Purple Frog...
Nancy Shortly after giving our friend, Nancy a tour of the new building she asked if glaze was hiring. The response: "For the right person, yes" led to her joining our glaze family. Sometimes I wonder who is more thrilled with the relationship... Nancy, glaze, or Nancy's husband David. He has commented how he loves that she loves her job. Well, we all love Nancy! She unselfishly lavishes her much needed "mothering" on the staff. Rarely does a day go by without her going completely out of her way to do something nice and unexpected for someone else. Having owned her own business and then working for 13 years at keeping an entire school organized, we are thrilled to be the recipients of all the skills and experience she brings with her to glaze. Fancy Nancy allows me to breathe easy knowing if there's something I missed- she almost always catches it!
Kate - Her move to the Milwaukee area couldn't have worked out better timing-wise for us. She was just what our Clayground needed. Kate is a professional potter. Her work on the wheel is inspiring. She fell right into place teaching clay classes during glaze dayz and running the clay birthday parties. She has created several outstanding custom pieces already. One customer's request for a piece led Kate to completely start from scratch as she built 2 huge duck basins. Wow! Her calm, soft, sweet demeanor keep those of us a bit more high strung closer to the ground. So far she has never turned down one of my crazy tasks such as needing 500 frog magnets by tomorrow :) Her husband is a chef in Milwaukee... his job is what brought her to us and for that we are grateful!
Drew - Now here is one cheery guy, always willing to help out. Drew is a senior at Cedarburg High School and involved with tennis and skiing. He works very hard on making each customer's experience an amazing one... because after all, "glazing is amazing!" He is well liked by the rest of the staff and really shows his dedication to glaze by quickly picking up extra shifts or stopping by to help out as needed. Drew is almost always the first to respond to texts - it's as if glaze is always on his mind. His hidden "Prince Eric" talents allow him to impress the kids during parties. Tennis pulls Drew away a little bit, but typically you'll find him there two evenings a week and weekends.
Meredith - For a few years now, Meredith has been a part-time glazian. You can typically find her in the studio on Mondays, though she's been known to sneak in before or after hours to roll clay, cut glass, etc. While much of her time is devoted to her three terrific school-aged children and husband, Meredith loves the flexibility of working on various projects from home. She helps with marketing and community outreach for the studio and absolutely loves being around the positive, creative staff & customers that glaze invariably attracts.
Janine - aka: J9, brings to the studio many years of teaching experience and an impeccable fashion sense. Choosing to stay home when her sons were born, Janine wouldn’t allow herself to get out of touch with the grown up world. We mutually decided glaze would be a good place for Janine, and it is! We love having her multi-task in the kiln room and help out on the floor. We recently had to let J9 have some time off, but for good cause. Welcome Baby Boy, Witt to the glaze family!!! She will be back with us as soon as Witt will allow it.
Sarah - aka "lil Sarah" started with us right about the same time she started her freshman year at Homestead. She is another active teenager, but is willing to work the hours when she can. Sarah got her nickname being the 2nd Sarah glazian and well... because she is little. Our petite Lil Sarah is a super hard worker and pretty hilarious. I have heard many times from co-glazians how she just "cracks them up". We hired 'lil Sarah for many reasons, but one of the best is that she is only 15. We get to keep her around for years!
Sarah - She has graduated from Marquette and is off to a new adventure in the Chicago area, but we refuse to say goodbye. We’re going to leave Sarah here as part of our staff because we’re pretty certain she won’t be able to stay away and we wouldn’t want her to.
Kay - Graphic designer extraordinaire! She’s the one responsible for all of the glaze graphics. She’s been doing it for years and after having once worked in the studio, she certainly knows what we’re all about and how to present us in brochures, ads, business cards, etc. If you need checker-borders or a cute purple frog, Kay will create it!
Ellen is the sergeant of smiles here at glaze. Rarely will you find her in anything but the cheeriest disposition. It's probably because she is so at home in glaze's creative environment. It's exactly where someone as talented as Ellen needs to be. Her love for the arts is reflected in her clothing designs, photography, singing, composing of music, and knitting. Ellen will go from teaching pre-school at Calvary Lutheran in Thiensville to being Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School’s full time Spanish teacher. She will continue to teach Wine & Dezign classes once a month and teach voice lessons to her students in our “Note Nook”.
Ellie - Beautiful red hair and a bright smile to match... that's our Ellie! Although she is actually far away at college in LaCrosse, she keeps in touch via email, texting and good old fashioned letter writing! I love that about her! She is a fantastic face painter and finds excitement in every project she is given. Her favorite pastime must be shopping, as you'll rarely find her in anything less than fun, cute, and trendy. I like to compete with Ellie when it comes to fun shoes though! She’ll be working with us when she’s home on college break and over the summer.
