glaze was growing... We outgrew our Cedarburg space of 6 years and started looking for larger accommodations in 2009. It took us over a year before we decided this beautiful Victorian Building would serve us well as our new home. When we found this property in Thiensville, we all fell in love with it. The building has around 4000 square feet. It was built in 1907 and although it's quite big, it maintains the cozy feel that glaze strives for. The building has been a home to Rick's Steakhouse, Pastimes Bar, and the Studio Cafe. It was sitting empty for over 2 1/2 years before we moved in. Our first day operating in this location was November 4th, 2010. It was also Thiensville's Ladies Night Out so when we opened our doors for the first time it welcomed over 750 people! There are many fabulous rooms along several fun little nooks and crannies. We decided to name each room. It helps us when scheduling parties and eventz as well as finding staff and supplies within the building. Example: "Connie, where are you?" the response: "I'm in the Polka Dot Spot putting away the supplies from Wine & Dezign." You might even hear the words: Marco? and then a faint: Polo. So Fun! The 3rd floor party room is called The Confetti Loft. It has a mini kitchen and can seat 30 guests. There is studio seating for both pottery and glass on the 1st floor which we refer to as The Zig-Zag Zone and on the 2nd floor in The Swirly Suite. The Clay Ground is a room dedicated to raw clay, and The Clayground Playground is the room across the hall where we teach glaze dayz and clay classes. We might even host part of a clay birthday party in there. It just makes sense keeping the clay supplies and tools handy... not to mention the mess clay has a reputation for creating. The Note Nook is a room where we offer piano, guitar and voice lessons. The Polka Dot Spot is pretty much Cal's room for hanging out. He does spend a lot of time in the studio after half-day kindergarten. We also house all the supplies and samples for Wine & Dezign classes, Frog Fest, Eggz, and Painting With Santa in Polka Dot Spot's big closet. Back down to the first floor and right when you walk in the side door we have the beautiful Glass Galley. It's difficult to miss the dazzling colors of fused glass in this well lit and open area. The front of the building is home to the Purple Frog, a wine, micro brew, snack, soda and juice bar. You will also find us popping popcorn on most days for our customers to enjoy. There is a variety of seating and plenty of board games to play along with a large screen TV to view sports games or to participate in karaoke nights. The lounge-like area encourages gatherings such as book clubs, committee meetings, or simple family or friend get-togethers. The Purple Frog is also where we host all of our very popular Wine & Dezign classes. This Thiensville location has ample parking and has been easy for our customers to find. Thank-you for painting with us and trusting our decision to move to larger space. We love our building and we are grateful for all of you who believed in us and followed us to Thiensville. -Kristina and Phil
